Some background on GemLink:

I started what is now GemLink in my home office in the mid-1980’s as a PC-Clone business, designing and building personal computers that were similar to IBM’s very successful “PC”.  By designing the systems around components manufactured in Japan, Korea and Taiwan I was able to produce PC’s for a fraction of the price that IBM was selling their units for.  Over a period of about ten years our company grew and sold more than 10,000 PC Clone systems.

As the hardware part of the industry became very competitive we turned to database development and network design, and over the next few years completed several major contracts within the telephone industry in the south eastern portion of the U.S.  This business was quite successful, but as nearly all technology based enterprises, ran its course and we moved on to working with the database applications and the newly emerging Internet.

The “Internet” business has done well since about 1996 and we have operated a very successful dial-up Internet connection service.  Now, some 12 plus years later the dial-up portion of the business is being rapidly replaced by competitors that are providing broadband services in the form of DSL, cable & satellite connections.  Dial-up is only able to compete with broadband where broadband is not available or priced out of reach.

As the dial-up business is declining, I am going back to a focus on an earlier portion of the GemLink business and that is the database and web-site businesses.

To the database and web-site business, I have added high-tech high-definition video recording of action events, currently working with a Bull Riding Association and a Barrel Racing organization.  Video records of the entire event are made available via DVD and individual video clips may be linked to from a web-site via the database.  Video clips of individual competitive efforts showing a bull ride or a barrel run at a particular event is selectable.

SO ... GemLink is still going strong after some twenty years.  Over that time things have changed, the name has changed, the location has changed, the method of operating has changed ... but still involved in the computer, databases, the Internet, web-sites and now adding the video at both the DVD and the Internet interface.

Thanks for coming to GemLink; I hope we can be of service to you.
